We are sorry to hear that. Although there are many things going on when involved in an accident it’s important to try and remain calm and gather some details. We have seen repeatedly people losing their case and being wrongly accused of the accident being their fault. Our list below will ensure that you have all the information needed for your insurance company, and your solicitor.

The details you MUST recover are:

  • The drivers FULL name
  • Registration number of their vehicle

Other things that will dramatically improve your chances of a successful claim are their:

  • Insurance company name
  • Contact telephone number
  • Address (Most people may not feel comfortable giving this out)
  • Insurance policy number (Most people don’t have this to hand so don’t worry if they don’t)
  • Any witnesses that was not involved in the accident

Also, make a note of the following details and keep them somewhere safe, you may have to resort back to these for up to 3 years after the accident:

  • The DATE and TIME the accident occurred
  • An estimate of the speed you as traveling at the moment of impact
  • The accident location
  • The weather conditions
  • Where you was going and why
  • Where you have been
  • Who was in their vehicle (just basic descriptive information such as 2 males)
  • Anyone in your own vehicle
  • Damages sustained to all vehicles involved
  • If the police where involved

"A picture tells a thousand words"; therefore, we highly recommend you take pictures of:

  • The driver (in the event they try to dispute the incident)
  • The damage to your vehicle
  • The damage to their vehicle
  • Their registration number
  • The location showing any lanes and sings if they are relevant
